Performing Writing, Performing Literacy

Researchers Andrea Lunsford and Jenn Fishman along with Study participants Beth McGregor and Mark Otuteye received the Richard Braddock award for their collaboratively-written article, "Performing Writing, Performing Literacy." Based on early findings about the importance students attach to their out-of-class or self-sponsored writing, the authors argue that student writing is increasingly linked to theories and practices of performance. The performative writing of McGregor and Otuteye, included in the article, illustrates the complex relationships between early college writing and performance.
